Political Action…
Adding pressure to change APPR
As you know the State Assembly overwhelmingly passed an APPR (Annual Professional Performance Review) bill that begins to reverse some of the worst points of the current APPR regulations. As you may also know the bill has stalled in the Republican controlled Senate, even though a majority of senators have signed on as co-sponsors.
If by next Thursday the bill has not moved in the Senate, NYSUT is suggesting we show our displeasure with demonstrations across the state at the local offices of those senators who have not signed on to the bill and/or have been instrumental in blocking movement of the bill.
In Suffolk County at this time only Senators Flanagan and Croci have not signed on to support the bill. We hope that will change by next week. Watch for an update.
Visit the NYSUT website for more information on what APPR means.
