Sad News

Howard E. Faulkner, who retired after 37 years teaching at Ocean Avenue, passed away on February 1 at the age of 95. Howard was predeceased by his wife Edwina, son Howard Jr. and his five siblings. He is survived by his daughters Marcia Zatulskis (Bill), Melissa Baumback (Andy), and Barbara Balfoort (David); and three grandchildren.

After college Howard served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict, achieving the rank of Captain. Howard and Edwina lived in Northport before retiring to East Hampton. In addition to a Masters Degree in Education Administration from Columbia Teachers College, in retirement Howard earned a degree in theology and served as a Certified Lay Speaker and Local Paster of the Sag Harbor Methodist Church for eight years.

His family is hosting a celebration of Howard’s life on Friday, February 7, 2025, at the Tuthill Mangano Funeral Home, 406 East Main Street, Riverhead, NY. Visitation hours will be from 10 AM to 12 Noon with a pastoral service following. Immediately after the service he will be laid to rest at the Calverton National Cemetery.
