Sad News

Rod Jennings, retired Bellerose Avenue teacher, has informed us that his lifetime spouse of 33 years, Philip A. Bruderman, died of sudden heart failure on August 18. Phil was 66 years old and died at their home in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Phil was an organ donor, as well as a member and monthly donor to the National ASPCA for forsaken and abused pets. Rod requests memorial donations in Phil’s name be forwarded to the National ASPCA at aspca.org.

Ruth Bader Ginsburg

This drawing, in memory of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, was created by Northport High School alumnus Doreen Mulryan. Our thanks to Doreen for letting use her drawing in our tribute.

Sad News

Joe Fazio a retired Larkfield Elementary School teacher, passed away on September 13 at the age of 94. In retirement he made his home in Plymouth Estates at Mount Sinai. He is survived by his wife, Marie; his children and step-children Julia Fabio, Anita Knudsen, Irene Fazio, Nora Fazio, Brian Fazio, Jessica Price and Jonathan Lewis; five grandchildren and his brother John. Interment was at Calverton National Cemetery.

In Memory of Ells Welch

Ellsworth Welch was a truly dedicated and life long educator.  He served as the esteemed  Principal of Ocean Avenue Elementary School for many years.  He never ceased caring about the children, staff and families of the school community. Long  after his retirement, if you met him, he would ask about the children who had attended the school. He was truly interested in the well being of the students.

His family with, the help of Paul Fazio, has requested, in lieu of flowers, that donations be made in his memory and name to the R-UTN Scholarship Fund for 2021.
