Countdown Until the Election

NYSUT’s 2016 Voter Guide, available online, includes a complete list of union-endorsed candidates as recommended by our local presidents and Political Action Committee, and approved by the Board of Directors. The guide explores critical races and gives the rationale for many endorsements. Take the time to read and consider this information before you cast your ballot on Nov. 8.

NYSUT is a broad and diverse organization, and not everyone will agree on all the issues. The process is designed to reflect the decisions made by the members’ representatives in support of candidates for Congress and the state Senate and Assembly who stand up on key issues important to the betterment of the educational community. Endorsed candidates have been thoroughly vetted with local union leaders and activists from every corner of the state. These are the candidates who will support the educational community — please support them in this historic election.

Volunteers Needed — NYSUT Political Action Phone Banks

Help NYSUT get out the vote by volunteering to staff the phone banks for the November election. The NYSUT Regional Office is sponsoring three Retiree During the Day Phone Banks beginning at 10 a.m. on October 18, 25 and November 1. Retirees will be calling fellow NYSUT retirees — if you have some time please plan to stop by. Retirees are also welcome at the regularly scheduled afternoon phone call hours from 3 to 7 p.m., Monday through Thursday beginning the week of October 16 and culminating on the day before Election Day (no phone calling on Halloween).

The Suffolk office is located at 150 Vanderbilt Motor Parkway, Suite 306, Hauppague. Phone number (631) 273-8822.
