Stay safe and make your vote count in the NYS primaries …

Governor Cuomo just announce that all New York State registered voters will be mailed applications to request for Absentee Ballots for the upcoming June primaries.

The NY State Constitution does not currently allow voting by mail. Absentee balloting has always been an option for those who will be out of state during an election or have a medical condition. In early April the Governor issued the following executive order allowing ALL voters to request absentee ballots by checking “temporary illness or physical disability” as the reason for the request.

**Pursuant to Executive Order 202.15 issued April 9, 2020, voters may request and vote via an absentee ballot for any election held on or before June 23, 2020 due to the potential to contract the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). To request an absentee ballot, voters may fill out an absentee ballot application and check “temporary illness or physical disability” as the reason they are requesting an absentee ballot.

Once the Governor signs the new executive order, applications for absentee ballots will be mailed to all registered voters. Watch your mail for the application. Once you received it must be filled out and returned to your county Board of Elections.

Once you receive the actual absentee ballot you can always change your mind. Absentee ballots must be post marked the day before the election. If you think you may want to vote in person, hold on to the ballot – the deadline for mailing the ballot is June 22.

If you want to submit your application sooner, you can Download and print the PDF version of the New York State Absentee Ballot Application Form: Download English Form.

Advice on Safe Grocery Shopping

Watch this Youtube video for excellent advice on what to do when you get home from grocery shopping – with the caveat that the CDC reports that you need to leave a bleach solution on surfaces for at least four minutes for it to kill the virus.

If you run out of household cleaning products you can make your own by adding 4 teaspoons of bleach to a quart (32 oz.) of water – or 1/3 cup per gallon. Mix the solution in a spray bottle and you are good to go. Visit the CDC Website for more more information.
