Here’s your chance for a 1 1⁄2 hour guided walking tour that explores the past, present, and future of the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. Learn about the historic and modern architecture, the Nobel legacy, and the advanced cancer, neuroscience, and plant research taking place at the lab each day. Knowledgeable tour guides include Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory graduate students and postdoctoral fellows.

Reservations are required at least 7 days in advance. There is a non-refundable tour fee of $5 per person that can be paid on arrival. Cash or checks only. Checks should be made payable to Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory.

The tour route is primarily outdoors and takes place rain or shine. The tour includes areas of stairs and steep hills. It is not recommended for people who have difficulty walking.

A public service announcement for our members — If you do not already process a Lifetime America the Beautiful National Parks & Federal Recreational Lands Senior Pass now is the time to get one. The passes currently cost $10, but the price will increases to $80 on August 28. A new $20 annual Senior Pass will become available at the same time.

U.S. citizens or permanent residents 62 years or older are eligible for the Senior Pass. The annual and lifetime Senior Passes provide access to more than 2,000 recreation sites managed by six Federal agencies.

ClearCaptions is a free service that provides text of telephone conversations  to seniors with hearing loss. Certified as a caption telephone provider by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), ClearCaptions offers an innovative suite of communication services on a variety of platforms, including personal computers, mobile devices and home phones. The telephone equipment is free and plugs into your current phone – all that is needed is internet access.  It provides simultaneous print out of in coming phone calls and printed message on the answering machine.  Visit the ClearCaptions website for  more information.
