Northport Art Walk Today

Today is the Annual Northport Art Walk. R-UTN member Linda Quinn will be showing her photographs, along with five current members of the NHS art staff, in the lobby of the Thompson building on the corner of Woodbine and Scudder Avenues.2016 poster

Sad News …

Dean_PetersenDean Peterson, former NHS biology teacher, passed away on August 31st, 2016 at his home in Green Cove Springs, Florida. Dean and his wife Phyllis moved to Florida after his thirty-three years in Northport, where he continued to teach biology for ten years as an adjunct professor at Florida Community College at Jacksonville (FCCJ).

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, or Orange Park United Methodist Church, 2051 Park Ave, Orange Park, FL 32073.

Sad News …

Nancy-2We are sorry to announce the passing of Nancy Gustave, former Northport teacher and long time member of the Executive Board of the R-UTN 
Nancy had requested no ceremony when the time came – so she was quietly cremated. Wilfred requested that for those who wish to memorialize Nancy, that donations be made to the Hospice House.  Send donations to VNSHS, 101  Laurel  Rd, East Northport NY 11731, in memory of Nancy S. Gustave.

Sad News …

Dorothy Bradnick, former NHS Time Out Room aide and wife of Larkfield Elementary School principal Gerry Bradnick, passed away  at home in New Port Richey, Florida on Aug. 23. She had recently celebrated her 85th Birthday. She had worked for about 20 years as a teacher aide in our schools. Her last position was working with Fred Craden in the Time Out room at Northport High School. She loved working with Fred and his team.

A photograph by Linda Quinn, retired NHS Art teacher, is part of the 2nd International Phone-ography Exhibition at the FotoFoto Gallery, 14 W. Carver Street in Huntington. Thirty photographs were chosen for a four week exhibition from a field of 604 submissions. The exhibition runs from August 3 – August 27. Check out the web gallery of the exhibition here.
