Pat Bond, former Northport High School English teacher, passed away on August 4. Service at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 7 at Trinity Episcopal Church, 130 Main Street, Northport.
R-UTN member Charlotte Koon wrote a tribute to her close friend and colleague —
A LASTING BOND
This tall, graceful woman
How “patrician”
In bearing and spirit
She was indeed
Well-named!
Just once in late summer, early Fall,
Sitting by her daughter’s pool,
She shared
A childhood fraught
With challenges,
Orphanage & family
Happily, with quiet courage,
Surviving it all!
Being a true founder of
The Northport Arts Coalition
With early ‘Salons’
That brought a consciousness
Of the humanities
To her chosen Community.
And serving on NAC’s Board
Her insights
Her wry humor
Her knowledge of
Artists and their needs.
Shed a warm light
As we made the road by walking.
How graciously
She opened her home
To our gatherings
Everything handled flawlessly
With that nurturing way
And Irish-eyes twinkle.
Today,
What means so much
To me,
Is that we were
Twice …
In Teaching
And Community …
True
Colleagues!
