An apology to our members …

An article was published in the April 16 issue of the R-UTN Newsletter titled MAYO CLINIC on DRINKING WATER. After publication the newsletter editors became of aware that this article was not completely based on fact. We apologize to our membership for publishing an article without first fact checking the source.

While drinking water and keeping hydrated is very important to good health, there is no evidence that a glass of water before bed can prevent heart attacks and strokes. Nor is it true that any of the information contained in the article came from the Mayo Clinic. If you would like to read more about the erroneous claims made in this article visit Water Myths Debunked on the The University of Washington website, or I Read it Online: Heart attacks & water published in the St. Louis American on February 14, 2014.

Do you have memories of Fred Meyers to share?

On Sunday, April 3rd, Ed Nostrand took part in a memorial service for his good friend Fred Meyer. In his eulogy he spoke of personal experiences he had with Fred and they were very much appreciated by his family. Since then Ginny Ayvazian has volunteered to make the family a scrap book of people’s personal memories of Fred. If you have any stories to share, please send them to Bobbi Scott at  utn-r@optonline.net. We are looking for specific memories and stories that describe personal experience that you and he shared.

The R-UTN is also seeking donations to support a scholarship for a Northport High School graduating senior  in Fred’s name. If you would like to donate, please send your contribution to Dave Hosie, 19 Jay Court, Northport 11768. Make checks payable to R-UTN and put “Fred Meyer” on the memo line.
