R-UTN member Terry McCoy invites friends and colleagues to a memorial and Celebration of Life for her late husband Bill McCoy. Bill and Terry were snowbirds for many years, splitting their time between East Northport and Florida until moving to Florida full-time shortly before Bill’s death. The memorial will be held at Nolan’s Funeral Home on Saturday, August 20 from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m.
A New Membership Year Starts September 1
As we approach the beginning of a new school year, it is also time for renewal of Retired – United Teachers of Northport memberships. Membership records need to be updated, yearly dues paid and eligibility maintained for the many benefits offered by NYSUT. You will be receiving a paper copy of the membership form in the mail, or you can download it from the website. The membership form also give you an opportunity donate to the R-UTN Scholarship fund and RSVP for the Annual Picnic, which is free to all paid up members.
Please return your completed form to address listed, by September 1, and plan to get together with your friends and former colleagues at the Annual Picnic on September 22.

Sad News
Richard (Dick) Willets, retired PE teachers and coach, passed away on August 5 at the age of 88. Dick taught at Northport High School and coached both basketball and tennis. In retirement he became a Certified Tennis Pro and worked for many years as a tennis instructor. Dick is survived by his wife Janice, son Robert, daughters Patty and Peggy, three grandchildren and his sister Suzanne.
Visitation at Nolan’s Funeral Home on Thursday, August 10, 2:00-5:00 & 7:00 -9:00 p.m. Funeral Mass the next morning at 11:00 a.m. at Philip Neri Church in Northport, followed by burial at the Parish Cemetery.
Being Good Neighbors
During these days of high inflation many families in our community are in need of a helping hand. On behalf of our membership, the R-UTN donated $500 to each of the food pantries sponsored by the Ecumenical Lay Council of Northport – East Northport and the St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Anthony’s Parish Outreach in East Northport.
