Some of our members may remember Joan Kaelin McNulty, who passed away on October 9 at the age of 87. Joan began teaching at the Larkfield Road School in 1954, and in 1955 she was one of the original teachers at the opening of Dickinson Avenue School. She later taught in Riverhead before becoming a stay-at-home mom.
She is survived by her husband, John Mcnulty, three children and seven grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, brother, and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews and godchildren.
The family received visitors Oct. 14 at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck. The Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated the same day at Our Lady of Good Counsel R.C. Church in Mattituck, with Msgr. Joseph Staudt officiating. Interment followed at Sacred Heart R.C. Cemetery in Cutchogue.
